The Salvation Army

salvation-army-blog

The Salvation Army has been operating in Albany since 1919, offering emergency shelter, two meals per day and social services assistance. A Place 4 Hope day center, offers direct homeless services. The Salvation Army, in partnership with the Marine Corps, provides Christmas toys for 1,000 children in need. Albany’s Salvation Army operates the largest emergency shelter in the nine surrounding counties that it serves. The program is tailored so that persons engaging with the services have maximum exposure to help offered throughout the community. The Salvation Army has been a member of the Albany Area Chamber for seven years. “Chamber membership has proven to be great for public exposure, and linking other social service organizations in the city of Albany. The Chamber has a good reputation and being connected to it only helps the citizens of Albany in times of need.”
