Albany, GA – September 2025 – The Junior League of Albany, GA, Inc. proudly joined Leagues across the nation this past weekend in celebrating Find the Good Day, a movement dedicated to fostering kindness, service, and meaningful impact in local communities. As part of the celebration, the Junior League revealed its newest legacy project: the creation of a NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) Library at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. This ongoing initiative will provide families with children’s books to read to their babies during their stay in the NICU. The project aims to inspire connection and comfort through the power of reading while supporting early literacy for the community’s tiniest patients. League members also received a tour of the new NICU, where they viewed the designated space for a future mural and selected a room that will be dedicated in the Junior League’s honor. The graduation mural will be a decorative and symbolic piece of artwork that will be created to celebrate the baby’s successful discharge from the hospital! We hope this mural will create a positive and hopeful environment in the NICU! These special recognition pieces to the NICU underscore the League’s continued commitment to leaving a lasting impact on Southwest Georgia families.
In addition, the City of Albany officially approved a mayoral proclamation declaring September 18, 2025, as Find the Good Day in Albany. This proclamation further highlights the importance of community partnerships and the Junior League’s leadership in driving positive change. “Find the Good Day was an inspiring reminder of the power of collective action,” said Elise Cotten, President-elect of the Junior League of Albany. “We are honored to launch the NICU Library as our newest project and look forward to seeing the joy and comfort it will bring to families in our community.” For more information about the Junior League of Albany and its ongoing projects, please visit www.jlalbany.org/ftgd.
