The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce proudly recognizes Portman’s Music Superstore as this week’s Star Business of the Week. Founded in 1910, Portman’s is one of Georgia’s preeminent music stores and music education resources. With locations in Savannah, Augusta, Brunswick and Albany, Portman’s continues a proud legacy as the state’s last family-owned music store.
For nearly 14 years, Portman’s has been part of the Albany community, serving as both a trusted retailer of major musical brands and a hub for music education. The store features full lesson studios and provides instruction in guitar, bass, violin, piano, voice, and banjo. With a team of talented instructors and sales associates, Portman’s teaches thousands of students across Georgia, fostering a love of music for generations.
Beyond retail and lessons, Portman’s supports local schools and bands through rental programs and educational sales. They are proud partners of the Albany State Marching Band, Lee County School System, and Dougherty County School System, ensuring students have access to quality instruments and equipment.
As a family-owned company for over 100 years, Portman’s is committed to serving the community with integrity and passion. The Albany Area Chamber celebrates Portman’s Music Superstore for its dedication to music education, its role as a community partner, and its nearly 14 years of service to the Albany area.
