Albany, Georgia – Albany Technical College’s Alpha Alpha Alpha (Tri-Alpha) Honor Society welcomes its

next class of inductees during a ceremony in the LEC Auditorium.

The induction ceremony occurs on October 30, 2025, at 5:30 pm. The program will focus on educating the

attendees about Tri-Alpha and its history and benefits. The introduction of Tri-Alpha Honor Society further

enhances the support structures at ATC for first-generation college students.

Alpha Alpha Alpha Honor Society approved and welcomed ATC on January 22, 2024, chartering the Iota Psi

Chapter.

Induction into Tri-Alpha, founded in March 2018 at what is now Moravian University, is by chapter invitation

for eligible first-generation college students. Induction requirements include:

• Full-time enrollment in an associate degree program.

• Completion of at least three full-time semesters of study with a minimum of 30 curriculum credits.

• An overall GPA of 3.2 or higher.

While young, Tri-Alpha recognizes academic achievements and promotes leadership while providing overall

support. It is not a sorority or fraternity but a national honor society that connects first-generation students,

centering around each other and allowing a community of students to have a lifelong connection.

Tri-Alpha is open to all first-generation students who meet the above-mentioned criteria. Recruitment will

occur each year, and the Iota Psi Chapter also plans to induct first-generation faculty, staff, and alumni in the

future. This year’s class includes 12 students and 11 faculty/staff.
