Albany Technical College has earned the 2026-2027 Military Friendly® School Silver designation
and has also been recognized as a 2026-2027 Military Spouse Friendly® School. The college is listed in the Small
Community College category on its Military Friendly® profile.
The recognition reflects Albany Technical College’s work to support veterans, active-duty service members,
transitioning service members, military spouses, and military-connected families through career-focused education,
flexible learning options, student support, and workforce training pathways.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly® Schools designation were evaluated using both public data sources and
responses from a proprietary survey. The 2026-2027 Military Friendly® Schools cycle included more than 3,200
participating schools, according to Military Friendly®.
Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Military Friendly®, in consultation with the Military
Friendly® Advisory Council, a group of independent leaders in the military community. Final ratings were
determined by combining an organization’s survey score, public data, and an assessment of the institution’s ability
to meet and exceed thresholds for student recruitment, retention, academic progress, graduation rates, career
placement, and support services for veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses.
Albany Technical College’s Military Friendly® profile notes the college’s location near Marine Corps Logistics
Base Albany and its long history of educating service members and veterans in high-demand technical and business
fields. The profile also highlights in-state tuition for eligible active-duty military and their families, evaluated
military training for transfer or prior-learning credit, assistance with VA and GI Bill education benefits, small
classes, flexible schedules, and employer partnerships.
The profile also notes that Albany Technical College offers flexible pathways for military spouses and dependents,
including hybrid and fully online formats in many programs. Dedicated advising, financial aid support, and
connections with area employers help military spouses and dependents move toward portable, in-demand
credentials.
“Albany Technical College is honored to receive the 2026-2027 Military Friendly® School Silver designation and

their families with pathways that connect education, skills, and employment. This recognition affirms our continued
work to support military-connected students as they prepare for civilian careers and workforce opportunities in

“Earning the Military Friendly® designation is more than a badge of honor; it is a reflection of an institution’s deeprooted values and strategic commitment to those who served. These schools don’t just open doors for veterans and
military spouses, they build sustainable pathways for academic success and long-term impact. Their support is
transformative, proving that investing in military-connected students is both a moral imperative and a standard for
educational excellence,” said Kayla Lopez, Vice President of Memberships, Military Friendly®.
