Star Business of the Week: Griffin Lumber & Hardware

Griffin Lumber & Hardware was founded in 1898 as Cordele Sash, Door and Lumber Company, and has operated continuously since its founding. The business originally consisted of an esteemed window, sash, and door craft shop, and a big band sawmill in Cordele, Georgia.

In 2013, the company changed its name to Griffin Lumber & Hardware in order to better reflect its expansion, most notably with the addition of its second location in Leesburg, and a third location in Tifton. Today, Griffin operates a total of seven locations across Georgia, and offers full-service support for home improvement needs.

Since 1954, Modern Gas has been the premier provider of propane service for both residential homes and commercial businesses in southwest Georgia. The company has expanded to include a retail division, offering customers an extensive list of items for the home including luxury spas,high-end grills and products for outdoor living. Modern Gas acquired Knight’s Appliances in 2019, adding major home appliances to their retail selection, rendering Modern gas a true “one-stop-shop” for all home needs – inside and out.

NEOS offers cybersecurity, cloud, and IT services to health care, government, education, small businesses and non-profits. NEOS values their Chamber membership because of the provided opportunities to join discussions, committees and events; and to have a voice in representing NEOS and the community.

Star Business of the Week: Margaret Jo Hogg Alzheimer’s Outreach Center

Congratulations to the Star Business of the Week: Margaret Jo Hogg Alzheimers Outreach Center!

The Margaret Jo Hogg Alzheimers Outreach Center provides care to those experiencing Alzheimer’s or Dementia, as well as their families and care providers. Activities offered include craft activities, chair exercises, balloon volleyball, beachball kickball, music therapy, paws patrol visits and holiday and birthday celebrations. Business hours are Monday – Friday from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with hot lunching snacks provided every day.

The outreach center ensures care-providers are well-supported through a monthly support group, one-on-one family advising, educational materials, quarterly educational workshops and professional training sessions upon request.
