ALBANY, GA – Albany Technical College will launch a new President’s Leadership Institute on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Logistics Education Center Auditorium. This program is open to ATC students who are currently enrolled in at least six credit hours and have not completed more than 18 credit hours.
Albany Tech’s president, Dr. Anthony O. Parker, chose to launch the program because he believes that everyone has the potential to be a leader. The program is a free leadership program focused on helping students develop and apply their unique skills. During the course of the program, students will gain exposure to the arts, participate in workshops and campus life, develop civic understanding, and give back to the community through service.
Through participation in workshops and campus activities, ATC students will have the opportunity to explore and develop their unique strengths and talents. These experiences will enhance the life of the student, enabling them to make a difference on campus and in the community. Recognition at graduation and on their college transcripts will set these students apart.
“The new leadership institute will encourage and support our students as they assume leadership roles in our community, state, and nation,” said Dr. Anthony O. Parker, ATC’s president. “The Institute will also prepare our students for successful transitions to other institutions and will render rewards that will last a lifetime.”
To qualify for the institute, students must complete and submit a program application by the first week of the semester. They must attend an orientation and a luncheon with the President and his Cabinet. Students must also complete 15 approved activities or workshops prior to graduation. These activities and workshops include self-management and goal setting, civic and campus life events, cultural opportunities and community service. Students enrolled in the program must also maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
