Teacher Appreciation Night is July 31 from 4-7 pm at the museum

[For Release July 18, 2018 – Albany, GA] ─ The new school year is just around the corner. We at the Albany Museum of Art appreciate the work our teachers do, and we have a special event coming up Tuesday, July 31, 2018 to thank them and to offer them help for the coming year.

Teacher Appreciation Night, which is free to all educators in Dougherty County and Southwest Georgia, will be 4-7 pm at the AMA, 311 Meadowlark Drive. At the event, educators will be able to relax and mingle with food and drinks, tour the AMA galleries, enjoy make-and-take art projects, and get information about ways the AMA and other local organizations can help them with STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math) programs.

“I think our teachers in Southwest Georgia should be celebrated,” said Chloe Hinton, director of education and programming for the Albany Museum of Art. “We want to make it easy for them to get the assistance they might need from organizations in Albany that want to help the Dougherty County School System and all the other schools in Albany and the region.”

In addition to the AMA, representatives from the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Albany Civil Rights Institute, Chehaw, Flint RiverQuarium and Thronateeska Heritage Center will be at Teachers Appreciation Night to provide information on ways they can help educators with their STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) curriculums.

“It’s a great opportunity for teachers to hang out with their colleagues and enjoy some really great art,” Hinton said. “Plus, they’ll get information that will make their jobs, which are so important, a little easier.”

Hinton said there also will be special prizes for the participating educators. In free raffles that evening, teachers can win field trips; gifts certificates to Serenity Day Spa, and Bandit and the Babe, and gift cards for school supplies.

There is no cost to educators to attend and registration is not required, but teachers are encouraged to let the AMA know they plan to attend. Educators can email Hinton at chloe.hinton@albanymuseum.com or call 229.439.8400.
